Ten Mile Fiber

We provide natural colored fiber and yarn from my farm and fiber mill and hand dyed fiber and yarn sourced from reputable producers. Yarns are dyed using professional grade acid dyes and naturally sourced botanicals in my dedicated smoke free animal friendly dye studio. A member of the Livestock Conservancy, we participate in the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em program.

Yanihandmade

We love to dye and to manipulate fabric and garments! We find great joy in changing the state of a medium through color and stitching, taking immense pride in the uncommon pieces that we create. We started experimenting with indigo-shibori dying, making kitchen aprons for Marcella who is a professional chef. Since Yanira is a long time knitter it was only natural to create knitting/project bags and dye yarn. Lately we have added ice-dying to our line of ready-to-wear overdyed pieces that are just amazing. We are based in Pittsburgh, PA with a dyeing studio in Asheville, NC.

Foster’s Fibers

Foster’s Fibers offers hand dyed, eco-friendly yarn that is dyed in micro batches in Pittsburgh, PA. I use professional grade acid dyes and focus on superwash bases that were treated with eco-friendly manufacturing processes. I like to dye vibrant, bright, and rich colors that will stand out and I love to dye tonals and speckled colorways. I’m a chemist by day, and an indie dyer by night.

Squirrel Hill Yarns

Hand dyed, hand spun unique yarns in a variety of natural fibers and an infinite multitude of color combinations. Vintage wearables made from these yarns. Squirrel Hill Yarns was one of the original Indie yarn companies in the 1970s through about 2010, trading as Rainbow Mills, wholesale only. It is now rebranded as a retail business online as an Etsy shop, and as an in person vendor at carefully selected shows in the Northeast.
