The PrAiry **New**

“The PrAiry is a pretty little farm owned and operated by Carlene Dowell. I retired in 2010, bought the farm, and fell in love with sheep. I raise specialty wool sheep and alpaca and offer their products to my discriminating fiber friends.

Products from The PrAiry include longwool fleeces from rare breeds of sheep such as Gotland,, Leicester Longwool, natural colored Blue Face Leicester and the hand spinner’s favorite fleece from Gotland x BFL cross breed animals.

I offer yarn made from The PrAiry fleeces, and I hand weave scarves from the yarn. Most products are labeled with the name of the animal that grew the fleece that made your favorite products. All products are prepared by Carlene and most yarn spinning is done by Lazy Meadows Fiber Mill with Carlene’s input.

The PrAiry also offers feather art and feathers for home decor, art work, and fly tying for the fly fisherman. Most of the feathers come from the free range peacocks, Spirit and Grace, and the heritage breed Bourbon Red turkeys, Gaylord and Henrietta. The Good Chicken and her friends, The Pretty Good Chickens, also offer their feathers for fun.

Nesting balls for the flighty friends in your yard are offered in the spring. They are full of alpaca fiber, sheep fleece, and delightfully decorated so you can hang them for your wild birds to use when making their nests. Dryer balls, the healthy alternative to replace those chemical sheets people had to use while drying clothes, are also offered.

Enjoy the natural products of The PrAiry.”

Wren House Yarns

Wren House Yarns features hand dyed, small batch, artisan yarns. Due to the techniques used in small batch dyeing, each skein is given individual attention guaranteeing a truly unique finished product. While I mainly offer fingering weight yarns, I’ve recently added DK to the Wren House stock list. Most of my yarns are dyed with professional acid fast dyes, but I also love to use local and exotic natural dyes. You may also find a few handwoven treasures in my booth.
